Traffic alerts: Tues. Sep. 8 - Fri. Sep. 11 there will be one-way flagging from Rainbow Bay to Island Beach from 10:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. (updated Sep. 8, 2026) -------------- Access to the Island area at Deer Creek State Park remains open during construction. Expect reduced lane and shoulder widths and follow the 45mph speed limit in the work zone. -------------- Overview: Fall 2025-Fall 2027 - A widening project that will build two additional travel lanes on US-189 from Wallsburg to Charleston, install a new traffic signal at the intersection of US-189 & SR-113, and improve access and parking at the Island Beach Day-Use area. When finished, US-189 will have two travel lanes in each direction from Provo to Heber City, reducing congestion and increasing safety for all drivers.
